Dreams December 2003

"Sugary Secret Admirer" I lived at a house with F and several other roommates.  One day several of my roommates and I got letters from a secret admirer.  My envelope contained individual white packets of sugar that had been cut open.  A girl named Gina, who also lived with me, got a letter, although I'm not sure if her letter contained sugar or not.  I began to wonder if the letter was sent by John, a guy who also lived in the house.  I hoped the letter was from him and that he really secretly admired me, not Gina.  However, I briefly realized that the letter might be from F.  That thought made me feel nervous. "Martha Stewart Saves the Day" I was walking by some bleachers at a University on the beach.  Many students were sitting on towels on the sand and among them was Jim Carrey, but I realized that was much less attractive than I thought he was. I decided to eat lunch on beach, but just as I sat down a nearby girl's Abercrombie and Fitch jacket got caught by the wind and blew into the ocean.  I yell to her that I'll get because I'm already wearing swimsuit and shorts. But before I can get to the jacket a girl I knew in high school dives into the water with her clothes on and gets it.  Then Martha Stewart walks over to her and holds her hand up in victory as if the girl has just won a wrestling match. "Fluff Died and Turned into a Square Blue Cartoon Dog" I had just found out that one of my male friends was actually a hermaphrodite.  He ran out of the room, so I followed him, but there was no one in the hall except for my brother's cat Fluff who was lying on the floor.  I stared at Fluff for a minute and realized that he was breathing irregularly.  I realized that he was going to die, but there was nothing I could do to save him.  Then his eyes got very large like a Japanese anime character's eyes and his body split open.  A white slime came out of his body.  I wanted to call my friend and cry, but I didn't know where he was.  I stood their standing at Fluff's body when out of the slime came a square blue dog that looked like the dog in the paintings by George Rodrigue.  The little dog waddled off on short legs and Fluff's old body smoked and disappeared.  I realized that Fluff was now the little blue dog, but he would never be the same. "Celebrity Field Trip" Several women, including Jillian, and I were going on a field trip in large SUVs.  We stopped at a movie theater so that Jillian could use the restroom and we ran into Monica Lewinsky and Anna Nicole Smith.  We all gathered outside on the sidewalk, waiting for everyone to return.  It must have been very late at night because the theater parking lot was almost entirely empty except for the vans in which we were traveling.  Monica Lewinsky and Anna Nicole began debating whether Anna's left or right side was the best to put forward for a photograph.  I ended up sitting beside a girl I went to high school with.  We finally continued driving and passed beautiful apartments in the middle of the city.  They were painted bright yellow with white trim and just looked happy.  The girl sitting beside me continued to chatter about her idea life and I just realized that my ideal life would be moving to one of these cute but weird little apartments. "One Hour Photo" I went to a movie theater and wanted to see One Hour Photo, starring Robin Williams.  For some reason I couldn't get a ticket to that movie, but I was able to purchase a ticket to another movie and decided that I would sneak into One Hour Photo. I was so excited when I arrived at the theater where One Hour Photo was being shown, but the room turned out to be daycare filled with moms and kids.  The lights dimmed and the head of the daycare announced that they would be showing One Hour Photo as entertainment for the moms.  I wondered if that was really such a good idea for the kids because I had heard that the movie was violent.  I also wondered whether I should be there, since I didn't have a kid.
