"Frito Sold His Dog" 09/28/03 I was speaking to Drusilla at school when she told me that Frito sold his dog. When I asked why she said he just didn't want to keep the dog anymore because he was tired of it and wanted to travel. I felt very upset because dogs are supposed to be man's best friend and to most people pets are like family members. Obviously Frito didn't care very much about his dog. I secretly wondered if the true reason Frito sold his dog was because his girlfriend didn't like dogs. "Indoor/Outdoor Hiking Expedition with My Brother" 09/27/03 My brother and I went hiking through canyons and plateaus to a kitchen and bathroom area. It looked very much like a regular house or apartment except the only rooms were a minimalist kitchen and bathroom which reminded me somehow of a church. While there we were interrupted by our grandmother. She said that she thought it was nice that we were working on a project together. I actually just wanted her to leave so that my brother and I could continue on our hike. I felt that she was unnecessarily meddling. I was so happy to be going on this journey , but it was difficult because we had to fight battles along the way and struggle against nature, and I had to battle my own fear of heights as we walked along the edges of plateaus that were thousands of feet tall. "Mothers' Strategic Use of Carnival Games" 09/24/03 It was as if I were present for the making of a documentary. There was an unseen narrator and I was at the locations were the events were happening, yet the scenes kept changing, and I was not really involved other than the fact I was watching everything happen. The documentary involved the way that mothers send their children off to play carnival games and go on rides in order to test the children's intelligence and also to take a break from having to watch the kids. One scene involved a three sided room with hallow walls above a plastic ball pit. One helmeted and heavily padded child went inside each wall and then the remaining space inside the walls was filled with more plastic balls. The object was then for each child to break through a cardboard section in their wall and fall into the pit below gently and at a different time from the other two participants. This game was one of the tests of intelligence that mothers frequently used. Another scene involved a large, neon orange, nylon cornucopia hanging in a wind tunnel room that was painted black with neon accents and looked otherwise suited for a game of laser tag. Air blew from the grated floor and the object was to stuff a large person dressed as a clown into the cornucopia. This was one of the time waster/distraction games used by the mothers to occupy their kids. "Shopping Spree Contest in England" 09/24/03 My brother, Calvin, and I went on a trip to England to compete in a shopping spree competition. The company funding the competition would pay to have groups travel to England and try to spend as much money as possible. I'm not sure what the point of this contest was or what the prize was for winning. We rented a car, which I was driving, but we got stuck on a bridge behind a fiery car crash. I managed to drive around it, but I felt exhausted after that and was less interested in shopping than my brother or Calvin. We went to several stores and I asked them if we could go to an Enzo Angiolini store so that I could buy a new pair of shoes. I thought this would be a good idea because I love Enzo shoes, and they're very expensive, so buying a pair of shoes for me would contribute to our goal of spending a lot of money. Calvin told me that we could go to the shoe store after going to a convenience store to get snacks. We went into an old and dilapidated convenience store which was very dark inside. My brother and Calvin got snacks. I asked them if I could get Reese's Cups because they had all our money for the contest. They seemed to think I should pay for them myself, so I handed my brother $2, but then I saw that the store only had giant Reese's Cups, which I didn't really want. Then we bought tickets and got on a cruise ship. We watched a musical performance by Robin Williams making fun of a Fabio-type guy who came to town on a motorcycle and the only clothes he brought with him were a particular style of womens jacket in every color available. The jackets passed by on a large parade float with muscular women who were singing and dancing. My brother and I left Calvin and went to the ship's cafeteria. In the cafeteria my brother saw a girl who he said was Sonjia, a girl he was in love with many years ago. I told him he should go talk to her and find out if it really was her. He went up and talked to the girl who said her name was Sonjia, but she claimed a different last name than the girl my brother knew. The girl made some comment regarding her last name and how her father was a bastard who never loved her. I was unsure whether this was actually the girl my brother knew or not. "Skyla and Zenith Have Kittens" 09/24/03 My cats, Skyla and Zenith, although they are brother and sister and neutered and spayed had kittens. Skyla gave birth to about ten kittens that were each born curled up and no bigger than a silver dollar. They were all wet and I was afraid that some of them were not breathing, so I would hold them in my hands and breathe warm air onto them in an attempt to try to keep them alive. I became particularly fond of the last kitten I saved, which was gray and very fuzzy. I realized he looked just like Zenith, although In real life Zenith was jet black when he was a kitten and only turned grayish later. "Nuestra Clase de Alma" 09/23/03 My brother was like a mad scientist. He tied me up while his girlfriend stood nearby and he choked me. When I could no longer breathe he would force me to swallow fluorescent drugs that made my skin glow bright yellow. This happened on several occasions. Later I escaped and went to my father for help. My father didn't help me much because he seemed to be distracted by other events going on in the house. I left to go to school. When I got to class I sat beside Oscar, who moved away a little bit. He told me that he knows I want him even more when he moves away. He was right, but I wouldn't admit it. As I was leaving class a woman introduced herself to me. I told her in Spanish, "Soy de tu clase." She responded by saying, "Eres de mi clase de alma." I responed to that with, "No... de escuela." "Almost Lucid: Visiting Diego" 09/21/03 I was at my grandmother's house in Kentucky when I called Diego and told him that I was coming over to cook at his house. I told him that I would bring all the utensils and kitchen gadgets we'd need. I went to the kitchen to get my rice cooker and saw that it was filled to the top with old, partially burned rice. I blamed my mother for using it and then forgetting about it, but she insisted that she hadn't used it. I continued trying to get ready despite this minor setback. But then two men with guns were running through the back hallway of the house and one of them took me hostage. He pushed me to the floor and held a gun to my back. I was completely terrified, but I kept telling myself frantically that it was only a dream. I was unable to wake myself up, so I determined it was not a dream. Eventually the man let me go, but after that I didn't really feel like visiting Diego anymore. "Math and Martinis" 09/20/03 I was attending a mandatory math class at a law school. The regular teacher was absent, so there was a substitute, but she was very mean. No one understood what was going on, and no one wanted to keep working, so the smartest boy in the class saved us by saying he didn't understand. The teacher said we could take a break and try to understand by talking to each other. Everyone had to work in partners, and I realized that girl I would have been partners with was a detriment to others because she didn't know any math at all. Later I went to my grandmother's house along with my brother. She tried to convince brother to drink cosmopolitans or sour apple martinis because they were cheap. I thought she was going to turn my brother into an alcoholic. "Hiding from Ms. Huntington" 09/18/03 I got onto a large yellow school bus with Gloria and Ursula for a school field trip. The three of us didn't seem to know any of the other students on the bus. I wasn't even sure where we were going for the field trip until the bus dropped us off at a grocery store. The three of us began walking through the store when I saw Ms. Huntington entering the store. I quickly tried to hide behind a stand of plants. Gloria and Ursula joined me, but Gloria didn't know Ms. Huntington, so she asked why we were hiding. Ursula began explaining it, but I began to wonder why we were hiding, even though I was the first one who hid. "On the Floor with Fabiola" 09/13/03 I was visiting Fabiola at her apartment, which looked very much like a downtown storefront, when somehow we ended up lying on the floor together. Maybe she fell and knocked me down accidentally, but she could have pushed me down purposefully as she greeted me with a hug. On the floor our arms were still around each other, but neither of us made any effort to move or get up. The situation seemed really interesting until she jumped up and started screaming at me. Then Drusilla walked in, although Drusilla did not live there. Fabiola ran to Drusilla and then began undressing. She screamed to me, "You made me piss my pants." She was standing in her living room wearing only a shirt and a thong when Drusilla offered to help her clean up. I felt very confused about everything that happened and kept lying on the floor even after they went into one of the back rooms. I felt that Fabiola was behaving like a child. "Borrowing a CD from Drusilla" 09/11/03 I went to the basement apartment where Drusilla and Fabiola lived. I had quite some trouble driving there because I had to take a long and winding road underground to where they lived. Frito was in the car with me and was making inane comments about the building. When I arrived at their apartment Fabiola began harassing me about why I hadn't returned a CD that I borrowed from Drusilla. I asked if Drusilla was even home, and Fabiola said that she was not. I said that I didn't have the CD with me, but I would get it and return it when Drusilla was home. Fabiola continued screaming at which point Frito began acting like a belligerent drunk. I looked around the apartment and realized that it looked like a hurricane had hit; everything was on the floor. I wondered how Fabiola even knew I had the CD. It seemed like it would be impossible for anyone to find anything in that apartment. On the way out of the building I had to stop and ask for directions because I got lost along the long and winding path. "Website Skins and Digital Cameras" 09/09/03 I was in class on a large bed with Yoshi sitting beside me. The professor was explaining to us how we could go to the university's website and use a pull down menu to change the look of the site to anything we wanted. I was really surprised that the university would care what the users of its website want. Yoshi was talking to the professor and made some comment about never leaving my side. I thought that was weird since Yoshi is really more of an acquaintance rather than a close friend. I met Drusilla after class to go shopping for a birthday present for Fabiola. I think we went to Target where I wanted to buy a silver and pastel colored 35mm Fuji camera for Fabiola, but Drusilla said she thought Fabiola already had a digital camera. I explained that there might be some reason why people need 35mm cameras in addition to digital ones, but Drusilla disagreed. "Blue Hula Group" 09/08/03 I was the organizer for a charity group performance. The performers arrived and I lead them down to an area that I though was a basement, yet there were lots of windows that allowed almost blinding sunlight to stream into the room. They were all wearing jeans and light blue, flowing long-sleeved shirts. I realized that I was wearing the same outfit. I walked to the front of the group and introduced them to the other people in the room. Then the group began singing and doing a dance with hand motions that seemed to be a hula. I was dancing with them, but I couldn't do the hand motions properly because I was holding a can of Diet Pepsi Twist. I was really only making a half-hearted effort anyway, and I was the organizer rather than a true performer, so it didn't really bother me that I wasn't doing the dance properly. "Paloma's Nervous Breakdown" 09/06/03 Paloma and I were supposed to meet for dinner at a nice restaurant, but when she showed up driving a mini van she had problems parking it. I was trying to direct her into a parking space, but suddenly she started screaming and honking her horn. It seemed like she had really lost her mind, so I told her I was calling the police to come help her. After the police arrived I went into the restaurant to have dinner with Karen, my father, and my brother. I felt very thirsty, but our waiter never brought us water. Eventually my father complained to the hostess and our waiter came over and asked is what we would like to drink. I looked at the menu and really wanted to order a strawberry daiquiri, but I remembered that I had driven my own car to the restaurant. I thought about the possibility of ordering an alcoholic drink and then having someone else give me a ride home, but I realized that my father would be extremely angry about that, so I ordered a non-alcoholic daiquiri. Later the waiter brought something to the table in a brandy glass which looked kind of like a poorly blended mojito and placed it in front of Karen. At that point my father said he was going to walk out to the parking lot to We couldn't figure out exactly what it was, so we called over the same hostess from before. She spoke to us in Spanish, but switched to some other language resembling Italian that I couldn't understand. What I basically understood from the hostess' explanation was that there was olive oil and cilantro in the glass. Later Karen and I decided that it must be a salad. She offered me some, but I politely declined. "In Love with an Arrogant Boy from School" 09/06/03 As I was walking to leave class several girls went up to the professor and loudly told him that they could have left class to go to some meeting they had, but that had been at 4:00, and they were dedicated enough to stay in his class. Now they were going to have to go to their meeting at 9:00, but they didn't mind. We all walked downstairs when someone almost fell, but M broke his fall. Then a few stairs from the bottom I almost fell, but M grabbed my arm to prevent me from falling. At the bottom of the stairs I thanked him and then hugged him and kissed his lips. I felt a little weird about kissing him because he is one of the most arrogant and heartless people I know from school. Then I was touching his abs and he asked if I thought he was fat. I was shocked that he would ever think he's fat and told him that he is not fat. He responded that he lost a lot of weight over the summer. I told him that I never thought he was fat. At that moment I realized that I had thought he was fat at one time, but now I was lying to him to save his feelings because I was falling in love with him. |
