"Collapse of I-295" 05/24/02 I was driving on I-295. My mother was in the passenger seat of my car. Suddenly the road began to shake. I thought it might have been an earthquake. The road completely collapsed. My mother and I ended up beside a house that was built into the side of a hill under an overpass. I knocked on the door to see if I could come in to use the phone. No one was home, but the door opened. My mother and I walked into the house. I turned on the TV. The news channels were already covering the story. They were debating whether it was a terrorist attack. I decided it was either that or failure to properly maintain the road. The elderly woman who lived in this house came home. We recounted the story to her and then we called my father and brother to tell them that we were ok. "Infatuated with an AA Member" 05/23/02 I went to a local library late at night. I met a boy on the sidewalk beside the library. Somehow I seemed drawn to him. I had never met him before, but it seemed as if we had known each other before. He informed me that he was a former member of Alcoholics Anonymous, but he had now turned his life around. He reminded me a lot of someone with whom Jillian was once infatuated. I drove him home from the library. He invited me to come into his house, but from the moment I stepped into his house I knew that his parents disapproved of me. I thought they disapproved because he was black and I am white. We went upstairs, but we tripped and fell at the top. I knew that it would not be a good idea for me to become involved with this guy, yet he seemed so appealing. "Red Streaks in Her Hair" 05/21/02 I was a student in a class that F was teaching. She had dyed deep red streaks in her hair. She looked so beautiful with her hair like that, but I thought that it was a somewhat unprofessional hairstyle for a teacher to have. She began the class by informing us that today was the anniversary of her grandfather's death. I pondered whether it was also the anniversary of my grandfather's death, but I realized it was not. "Moving to the Beach" 05/20/02 M invited me to go to the beach with him. I think he was asking me out for a date. I agreed and began packing. I packed up my computer and a lot of my stuff and went over to his house. I left my stuff there while he and I went to a country club at the beach. I was worried that I wouldn't be allowed at that club, since I wasn't a member. M told me that it would be alright. I realized that he wasn't actually a member either. We met some of his friends. The beach was so gorgeous. I felt extremely happy to be there with M and his friends. We secretly went swimming in the country club's pool. Then I went home with M. After I was back at his house I realized that I had left some library books of mine at the country club. I went back to get them, but it was very difficult. I had to swim through one of the pools while holding the books above water. When I got back to M's house I called my father and asked him to come pick me up. I realized I had too many things with me to carry them home. When my father arrived I began unhooking my computer. I wondered if my father was angry that I had been living with M. "A Vegetarian Meal at My Grandmother's House" 05/17/02 Midori, Zara, my family and I were staying at my grandmother's house. My mother was cooking a meal for everyone, but the only vegetarian food that she cooked was plain white rice. I was very disappointed with this meal. I felt sorry for Midori because my mother didn't really cook much vegetarian food. At first I had thought that maybe Zara was also a vegetarian, but later I realized that Midori was a vegetarian for religious reasons and Zara was not a vegetarian. I offered to cook something else for Midori when I heard her speaking to Zara in some other language about how awful my mother's meal was. I couldn't really understand the language they were speaking, but I could understand about every fourth word. I told her that I would cook samosas and fried potatoes, but I don't think she knew what samosas were. My parents were going to go on another trip. Midori seemed especially interested in going on the trip. "Vocabulary Quiz" 05/14/02 My brother, father, F, and I went to Michael's (the craft store). It turned out to also be a fast food restaurant. We all ordered at the register. The cashier asked us if we would like soft drinks. Only F ordered one. The cashier had to search for F's email address in a database before she could have her drink. It was taking forever. The rest of my family decided to walk down the street to some other stores while F waited for her soda. As I walked past other stores I saw what looked like a dance studio. F2 was inside applying makeup. A woman who was standing in the doorway told me that they were getting ready for a performance. F2 looked extremely beautiful, but there was something unnatural about her. She looked dangerous and seductive. I had the feeling that she was going to corrupt someone. She smiled at me, but I did not smile back. I quickly continued walking. I went inside the next store after that. At first I thought I was in school. There was a woman who was passing out what looked like vocabulary flash cards. She informed us that we would have to pick a card and define the word on the card or choose any other word and define it. The only requirement was that the word must somehow relate to religion. I didn't recognize any of the words on the cards I had, so when it was my turn I defined the word agape. A friend of mine walked into the room as I was defining my word. He interrupted me to apologize for being late and sat beside me. The teacher seemed pleased with my word and definition. My friend complimented my ability to choose and define such a relevant and important word. He looked as if he wanted to continue discussing the matter, but the teacher said it was his turn. He attempted to define a word, but at the end of his definition the teacher said that his definition was incorrect. He tried to define a second word, but he also defined that word incorrectly. I felt sorry for my friend because it seemed like he was really struggling to keep up in the class. I was also surprised by this because I had thought that he was more knowledgeable about religion than I was. "Family Time in The Real World" 05/12/02--> Two of my cousins, my brother, and I were staying in a very large house for a project with MTV. It seemed like the show The Real World, but I didn't notice any people filming us. After we unpacked we were informed of our first mission. I began to wonder if we were on The Real World or Road Rules. Our assignment was to find our way into a secret area of the house. I thought that we should all split up, but my brother and cousins wanted to stay together. I left them and began working on the mission. The house was actually much larger than it seemed when I first moved in. There was an indoor river that I had to swim through. It was in a dark tunnel through the center of the house. I came upon an island that was floating in the middle of the river. I climbed onto it and walked up to the top of the hill. The island began moving toward another island in the distance. They came together and I walked down the hill of the second island. I swam a little more and I finally reached a wing of the house that included a large bedroom and bathroom with a gorgeous garden bathtub. I thought that I had never seen such beautiful rooms. I was apparently the first person to complete the mission. After that I think the mission ended because my brother and cousins never completed it. Because I finished the mission first, I was allowed to stay in that wing of the house for the remaining days. Then our parents came to pick us up. My cousins and brother did not want to leave, so they hid, but I found them. All of us sat in the living room. My father said that MTV had paid $9,000 for us to be able to stay in the house for a week. He said that MTV had rented the house for a longer period of time, but the house would be empty. I asked my father if he would let me stay in the house until MTV found another use for it. My father didn't want me to stay, but I knew that I would be much happier in this house than I could have been if I had gone home to live in my parents' house. "Almost Lucid: Playing Mini Golf with Friends" 05/12/02 It was late at night and I was meeting a friend to play mini golf. I walked to the mini golf place, although it was a very long walk. My friend arrived shortly after I did. I realized that he drove there. I wished I had driven. It was now daytime. My friend and I were standing in the lobby of the mini golf place when I saw Oscar sitting across the room from us. My other friend had never met Oscar as far as I knew, so I asked him if he would mind if I invited Oscar to join us. He said it would be ok. So I went over to Oscar and introduced them to each other. Then I turned toward my friend and jumped on him. He held me as I wrapped my legs around his waist and kissed his neck. My friend laughed and told Oscar what I was doing as if Oscar couldn't see for himself. Oscar said he wanted to go say hi to someone, but he would be back soon. As soon as Oscar left my other friend asked me, "Am I the first person who...?" I never let him finish the question before I answered no and said that Oscar was the first person. I'm not sure what the full question was. I told my friend that I would be right back. I found my car in the parking lot and drove home. I wanted to change into another outfit. I had been wearing neon pink spandex running shorts, a black tank top, and Nike running shoes. I thought the outfit was so embarrassing. I decided that I just needed to put on other shoes. I thought about putting on high heels, but I realized that would look strange with the rest of my outfit. Finally I decided on shower shoes that had Velcro straps. I wasn't able to get the Velcro straps to stick together properly, so I finally resorted to running shoes again. I was having problems tying my running shoes. I realized that I had been gone for a very long time. I knew that I wasn't going to be able to go back to the mini golf place before my friends go tired of waiting and left. Then I realized that all of this was a dream. Unfortunately, I then woke up and a perfectly good lucid dream opportunity was wasted. "Problems at School" 05/09/02 My mother, brother, and I were at a university library. My mother and brother wanted to check out books. My mother had a fake library card. She tried to check out the books using that card, but the librarian realized the card was fake and wouldn't accept it. I said I would check out the books on my university ID. I opened my wallet. I had several cards which looked like university ID cards, but I couldn't find the right one. Several of the cards had my picture on the front and someone else's picture on the back. I finally found a card that had the correct information on the back, but I looked at the front and saw that it wasn't actually my ID; it was Gloria's. My family was unable to check out the books. I went back to school and my family went home. I walked into a room with mirrors and saw that I was wearing a beautiful gown. I thought that I had never looked so beautiful in my entire life. I realized that I was walking into a bathroom. There were a girl and a police officer in there. The girl was telling the officer that a boy in her class stole her notes in order to copy her handwriting. I realized the girl was suspected of murdering someone. She was saying that she wasn't responsible for the note left at the scene of the crime even though the note was written in what appeared to be her handwriting. Then I realized that I was that girl. "A Visit with Pat" 05/08/02 I had become a waitress, but I was a very bad one. I was trying to carry a tray of water to some customers, but I kept spilling it. The manager of the restaurant came over and tried to show me how to carry a tray, but she spilled the water also. Then I noticed that the customers already had glasses of water, so there was no reason for me to carry glasses of water over to their table. I talked to an older married couple sitting at the table. The woman was named Pat. Suddenly Pat, her husband, Karen, and I were sitting in my grandmother's living room. Karen and I went to look for my brother. We looked in one of the bedrooms, but I couldn't see him. Karen wondered where he was. I said that he was probably sitting in the corner playing his Gameboy. Karen and I went back and talked to the married couple. Pat kept saying, "It was nice meeting you." I assumed that she wanted to get rid of us. She seemed to be a very angry person for no apparent reason. We finally said goodbye, but she and her husband expected Karen and I to kiss them on their cheeks. I didn't really want to do it, but I did it anyway to be polite. Then I was sitting on Pat's husband's lap. I wondered if Pat hated me for that. Next I was rolling around on the floor with her husband, who was very old and very ugly. No one in the room seemed to think our behavior was abnormal. "Cabin Hideout" 05/05/02 Louis, Jillian, another woman, and I were all friends. Louis and Jillian may have been dating each other. The other woman in our group was a criminal. We were all staying in a small cabin. The four of us were watching TV. I looked out the window and saw a huge plane. This plane was probably the size of two houses. I asked the other woman why such a large plane was flying so low. The plane looked like it was flying just above the trees. The woman said it was probably a military plane doing surveillance. I doubted that it was a military plane because the plane was painted a shiny shade of green with yellow trim. Then I realized that she was probably right and that the plane was probably looking for us because we were wanted for a crime. The woman tied up Jillian and Louis as I stood and watched. She forced them to put their arms by their sides and then wrapped them in what looked like large plastic bands. After Jillian and Louis were bound, the woman and I left the cabin. I told the woman that we would probably get caught if we left now. I also said that we really shouldn't leave Louis and Jillian like that. We came back into the cabin and untied them. I was crying and laughing as I hugged Jillian. Louis was understandably less enthusiastic, so I simply patted him on the shoulder. "Malfunctioning Elevators" 05/05/02 I was part of a large group of students waiting within an old building. We were possibly on a field trip. We walked up a flight of stairs to a landing where there were elevators. I was so tired after walking up the stairs. I felt as if my legs weren't functioning properly. I stepped into an elevator with Casey, a boy who was in a class with me. I realized that I had left a bag with my laundry downstairs, so I went back to get it. When I returned to the elevators, all of the other students were gone. I pushed the up buttons of several elevators. Several elevators' doors opened, however, the elevators did not stop. They continued going down, which seemed weird because I had pushed the up buttons. There was another woman waiting at the landing with me. She jumped into one of the elevators that was going down. I thought about how dangerous it was for her to jump into a moving elevator. I finally took an elevator up to where my classmates were. They were sitting in a circle in an outdoor area. I realized we were at Sea World. "Supposed to Meet a Friend at the Mall" 05/04/02 F called my house in the evening and asked me if I would like to go to the mall with her the next day. I said that I would. Later in the night I realized that I didn't know what time I was supposed to meet her. By that time it was too late to call her back. I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to call her in the morning before she left her house. I felt like I was losing my mind because I was fairly sure that we had discussed a meeting time on the phone; I just couldn't remember it. "My Car Was Towed Because It's Not Airtight" 05/04/02 I had purchased several very large items at a store, so two of the employees volunteered to help me load the items into my car. One of the employees complained that he had to walk so far carrying a heavy item, but I assured him that my car was parked nearby. In the parking lot I saw several cars that looked like mine, but I could not actually find my car. The employees asked me what kind of car I drive. I told them that my car was a white Chrysler. They couldn't find my car either, so we went back to the store. I called my father and explained the problem. He came to the store. He asked me if I locked my car door. I said I had. I guess he thought that my car had been stolen. Then he said that he would call the a nearby store to ask what happened to my car. The other store informed him that all cars that are not airtight are towed from the parking lot. I was surprised by this. I had never known that such a rule was in existence. Then I wondered why my car was not airtight. I thought perhaps someone broke one of the windows in my car. "Battling Robots" 05/04/02 I was in charge of a competition in which people had robots that they battled against each other. Most of the people built their own robots, but I had been given a robot to use by the sponsor of the competition. The competition took place in an indoor pool. I think the competition was similar to a game of tag. The people tried to maneuver their robots to touch their opponents' robots. All of the robots were operated by remote control. For some reason the remote control for my robot was suspended from a cord from the ceiling and hung above the pool. It was very difficult for me to even reach my remote. Near the end of the competition I fell into the pool with all of my clothes on because I was stretching to reach my remote. I was surprised that the water was actually warm. The only other robot remaining belonged to Jared, a boy I knew in elementary school. He put his remote down and jumped into the pool with his clothes on, which made me smile. Suddenly he and I were rolling around together, except we were both floating on top of the water. I felt so happy. The contest was declared a tie, so I went home. The phone was ringing when I walked in the door. It was Calvin calling. I tried to tell him how happy I was, but he asked me to wait. I think he put me on hold, but I couldn't really tell if I was on hold or if he was just silent. I wondered if he was angry. "My Mother Tried to Steal My Car Keys" 05/03/02 My mother and I were the only people at home. I told her that I was going out. I had my car keys in my hand. My mother became enraged and told me that I couldn't just announce that I was driving her car somewhere. She said that I couldn't go. I asked her what she was talking about. I told her that I was planning to drive my own car. She insisted that I was going to drive her car. I held up the keys that were in my hand. On my key chain I had keys to my car, house keys, and keys for my desk and filing cabinet. My mother claimed the keys to my car were actually the keys to her car. She tried to grab all of the keys out of my hand. I tried to pull away, but she began twisting my arm. I finally got away and ran to her bedroom. I don't know why I decided to go to her bedroom. I shut and locked the door and attempted to call my father on his cell phone. My mother was able to open the door even though it had been locked. I realized that she secretly had a key to every room in the house. I was able to call my father. I began screaming and crying that my mother had lost her mind and that he needed to come home. He seemed worried. "Snowy New Year in Miami" 05/03/02 I was running late in the morning as I got ready for school. I was going to take a school bus to college, and I was worried that I would miss my bus. It was the first day of school after winter vacation. It was snowing, so I was hoping that school might be cancelled, but my parents said school would not be cancelled just because of a little snow. For some reason none of the lights were on in our house. I walked into what looked like the living room. A woman who I thought to be Karen was there. The woman began speaking to me about her plans in college. She told me how she wanted to become a doctor. I realized that this woman was not Karen because Karen would never actually succeed as a pre-med student. I told her about volunteer work I was doing to help children. She asked me about one of the children that I volunteered with, but I couldn't remember his name. I thought his name started with V, but I couldn't think of it. I began to panic that perhaps I was going crazy. I was so late after stopping to talk to this woman, so I asked my father to drive me to the bus stop, but he refused. |
