Dreams February 2005

"A Visit with Dr. Mariah"    02/05/05 I went to a hospital-like place with some kind of sexual problem.  I realized that this hospital-like place was in Miami and that none of the workers spoke English.  I didn't exactly know what my problem was, but whatever it was, I definitely didn't know how to explain it in Spanish, which worried me.  But just then Mariah Carey stepped out of a back room and said she would be my doctor.  I felt a lot better about this.  As we walked to a room she flirted with one of the male doctors and told me if she helped this doctor with two more of his patients that she and the doctor would get to work together on a regular basis.  When we were inside the room she introduced a resident who came in to observe.  Mariah began by asking me if I'd ever been on birth control and if it ever made me feel like killing people.  I told her that birth control never made me feel that way, but I told her how bad Paxil, Ambien, and Xanax had made me feel.  I told her that I sometimes think of smoking cigarettes as a form of stress relief but that I don't because I think drugs are evil, especially after being on Paxil, Ambien, and Xanax.  With that she told me that she could solve my problem and sent me home with two round containers.  I got home and saw that the first container was labeled as a smoking kit.  I opened it, hoping that it would contain menthol cigarettes.  Instead it contained partially smoked regular cigarettes that were apparently made out of #2 pencils.  I realized that this was a kit to help someone stop smoking.  I also thought that I would get lead poisoning if I tried to smoke any of these cigarettes.  There was also some cheap but really pretty jewelry inside along with a matching keychain.  I decided to save these items, even if I threw away the cigarettes.  I never opened the second container from Dr. Mariah. "X-Women Over 40"    02/05/05 I was a member of the X-men (the comic book heroes), but there were only women in this group.  Rogue was there, played by country singer Bonnie Rait, although she had the voice of Reba McEntire.  Storm was played by Hale Berry.  I was a tall brunette X-men with big hair who vaguely resembled Susan Lucci or Teri Hatcher.  Nothing was really happening until a crazed male medical school resident barged into our headquarters and tried to attack me.  He pushed me onto a rolling cart and tried to attack me with scalpels, but I pushed him away and stepped into an elevator to escape. "Ms. Huntington Gives Legal Advice"    02/04/05 I was at the courthouse in the middle of a trial, which I realized that I needed to figure out the answer to a legal question before proceeding.  The judge granted a recess and I sought out Ms. Huntington because I felt that she would be able to answer my questions.  I never was able to really talk to her because she was very busy teaching some kind of class.  I did run into Ursula and another girl I knew from school.  The other girl was clearly dressed in a police uniform.  I said to her, "So, you became a cop."  I had always liked this girl, but I had developed a strong dislike of law enforcement officers, especially after becoming a criminal defense attorney.  The girl responded, "No, I became a detective."  I looked at her strangely as if cop and detective were the same thing, but obviously she thought otherwise.  Ursula kept staring at me as if she hated what I had become.  I decided to go to a nearby store/restaurant to try to think about the legal problem myself since I couldn't get an answer from Ms. Huntington.  She had spoken to me briefly, but her answer was pretty much to trust my instinct.  So at this store/restaurant I ordered potatoes and a cake with fruit on it.  The waitress brought me my cake, but later brought me three potatoes, veal, and a birthday cake.  I told her that I had only ordered two potatoes and not the other stuff and refused to pay.  She asked me if it was my birthday, and I realized it was.  After I told her that she told me that the birthday cake was free.  I smiled, but I asked her to take away the veal because I'm vegetarian and to only bring me two potatoes.  As she walked away I realized that I don't even like potatoes and that several hours had passed, so I had to go back to court. "The Best Chocolate Ever"    02/03/05 I drove to Tampa to visit Julius at his family's house.  He met me in the yard and handed me small gold packages.  At first I though they were condoms, but then I noticed the wrappers were like butter wrappers, except that they were also laminated.  I opened one and discovered that there was chocolate inside.  I reexamined the label and saw that the label was printed with his name and his family was apparently in the business of making chocolate.  I was so happy that he gave me chocolate.  This was definitely the best chocolate that I had ever had.  Julius and I began talking about the percentage of women who prefer chocolate over sex.  I wondered if he had this problem with women because his chocolate was just so good.  Eventually we met his mother, who was very mean to me.  She told me that Julius shouldn't have given me the chocolate.  I wondered why she was so opposed to it because it was obvious that Julius had given me pieces that had slightly messed up labels and therefore couldn't be sold.  The chocolate made me so happy and Julius seemed happy to give it to me.  I wondered if his mother didn't want us to be happy.  Somehow I got the impression that she thought that I would corrupt her son or take advantage of him.
